Josef Kure Dr. of Philosophy
A philosopher with extensive experience in Bioethics, both research and teaching. He gained M.Phil. and D.Phil. in Philosophy from the University of Innsbruck (Austria), has studied Psychology in Brno (Czech Republic). As postdoctoral fellow he continued study in Ethics at the University of Vienna, Austria, and at GTU (under Karen Lebacqz) in Berkeley, USA. He was a Visiting Researcher at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University, Washington DC (2000 - 2003) and a Visiting Scholar at the Center of Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University (2001 - 2003).
Currently he is Director of the University Center for Bioethics and Head of the Departement of Medical Ethics, Masaryk University, Brno. His areas of expertise are: foundations of bioethics, anthropological foundation of ethics, future oriented bioethics, research ethics, ethics of genetics.

Achievements
Three of research projects he took part in epitomise his relevance to the project:
- "The history of Care" Grant No 2000 1788-000, the Lilly Endowment, Georgetown University, Washington DC, Senior Researcher 2001 - 2003.
- Project EURETHNET (Ethics in medicine and biotechnology), the 5th FP EU, 2003 - 2004.
- Project PRIVIREAL (Privacy in Research and Ethics), the 5th FP EU, 2002 - 2004.

He is Vice-president of the Bioethics Committee of the Czech Government and a member of International Stem Cells Forum - Ethics Task Group (Montreal, Canada).
