Dr. Ana Paula Pêgo’s major research interests include the application of biomaterials in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, with particular focus on neuroregeneration.
She is one of the responsibles for the New Area of Research "Biomaterials for Neurosciences" of the NEWTherapies group of INEB.
The research on new biomaterials for application in neurosciences includes the development of new polymers for: nanoparticle-based gene delivery, preparation of nerve grafts to use in nerve reconstruction and modulation of cell response.
